Copper, also known as red copper, possesses excellent electrical and thermal conductivity, and exhibits exceptional plasticity, making it easy to hot-press and cold-press. It is widely used in the manufacture of wires, cables, brushes, and EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining) copper products requiring high conductivity.

Copper's electrical and thermal conductivity are second only to silver, making it widely used in the production of conductive and heat-conducting equipment. Copper exhibits good corrosion resistance in air, seawater, and certain non-oxidizing acids (hydrochloric acid, dilute sulfuric acid), alkalis, salt solutions, and many organic acids (acetic acid, citric acid), making it suitable for use in the chemical industry. Furthermore, copper has good weldability and can be cold- and hot-pressed into various semi-finished and finished products. In the 1970s, the production of copper exceeded the total production of all other copper alloys.
